Record entry for Dorset run

THERE was a record entry of 118 vintage and classic vehicles in the 18th annual Hardy Country Classic Tour, run by Transport of Yesteryear (Dorset), on Sunday.

The event started from Hampton Farm Business Park at Higher Bockhampton, near Dorchester, and finished 75 miles later at the Riviera Hotel, Bowleaze Coveway, near Weymouth.

It included a lunchtime picnic stop in the beautiful grounds of Shillingstone House, near Blandford, courtesy of Sir Michael and Lady Caroline Salt.

The run, sponsored again this year by Ron Coleman, was in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare and the hope and expectation was that it will have topped last year’s total of £1,075.

The entrants were waved off in the morning by Mayor of Dorchester, Councillor Susie Hosford, who was at Bowleaze Coveway a few hours later to welcome the finishers.

Pictured are some of the entries.

  2. And this was only a sample! There were some real gems on show and my favourite was the XK150 Jag – a magnificent example.
