Rollers shine in Dorset sale

A BEVY of Rolls-Royces were among the automotive aristocrats coming under the hammer at the autumn quarterly sale of the Dorset Vintage & Classic Auctions.

The sale, held in the appropriately aristocratic grounds of Athelhampton House, near Dorchester, drew bidders from far and wide and featured a wonderfully varied catalogue of vehicles and automobilia.

Among the Rollers to find new homes were a 1929 20hp two-door Weymann close-coupled saloon by Freestone and Webb, which sold for £37,400; and a 1975 Silver Shadow that was snapped up for £3,520.
