A PIECE of motoring history is set to go under the auctioneer’s hammer next week in the unmistakeable shape of a DeLorean DMC-12.
The famous – or notorious – gullwing-door sports car is listed among the lots on the catalogue for the Dorset Vintage and Classic Auctions’ quarterly sale at Athelhampton House, near Dorchester, next Thursday, October 16.
The car is a 1981 left-hand-drive model, with manual transmission, a mileage of 28,700 and a guide price of £14,000 to £16,000.
According to DVCA’s background information, the car has had just one UK owner, who imported the DeLorean himself from Jacksonville in 1991; the previous custodian was a detective in Ohio.
Used sparingly as a fun car, the high-spec GT has clearly been maintained to a high standard and is described as very good with no known faults. The supercar is being offered for the first time in the UK due to the vendor’s house move and general downsizing.
The sale starts at Athelhampton House at 11am next Thursday, with viewing the previous day from 10am until 7pm and on sale day from 10am.
