THESE two stunning beauties, alongside 70 other classics, will be vying for the ‘Best of Show’ trophy at Salon Privé entering the Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance.

They will also join the 60 cars on the spectacular Chubb Insurance Tour d’Elégance; driving through 194miles of English countryside.

1953 Delahaye 235MS Coupé: Entered in the ‘Dramatic Coachwork’ class, this is a truly unique, one-of-a-kind car that has not been seen publically for 20 years anywhere in the world. First seen on the Delahaye stand at the 1953 Paris Auto Salon, just 85 examples of the ‘Delahaye 235’ were built, and this is the only example of its type to feature unique Chapron coachwork.

It is powered by a 3.5-litre six-cylinder engine capable of producing just over 150 horsepower and could reach speeds of 100mph, or more. The 235 replaced the 135 and was Delahaye’s last ever model to be offered for sale.

1931 Hispano-Suiza J12: Hispano-Suiza combined Swiss design with Spanish capital and French production facilities to create what many consider one of the world’s best automobiles. Entered  in the ‘Fit for a King’ class, which showcases cars from around the world with Head of State or Royal provenance, this particular model was ordered by the Vice President of Hispano-Suiza and descendant of the last Polish King, Prince Charles Casimir Poniatowski.

The J12 was offered only as a rolling chassis on a choice of four wheelbases. The huge “square” V-12 was an engineering masterpiece, and came either in a 9.4 or, as this one enjoys, the 11.3 Litre engine, with each being machined from a single 700lb billet; it can travel 0-60mph in 12 seconds and on to pass 100mph.

Salon Privé is a boutique automotive garden party which opens on Wednesday September 3 with the crème de la crème of classic cars from around the world competing in the internationally-renowned Chubb Insurance Concours d’Elégance.

Tickets to Salon Privé 2014 are available now and can be purchased either by calling the Ticket Hotline on 0808 100 2205 or online at  www.salonprivelondon.com/product-category/full-hospitality.
