Porsche models pour into Beaulieu

THE second annual Simply Porsche event, held in the grounds of the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu on Sunday, attracted over 440 examples of the Porsche marque, both classic and new, spanning a wide range of models.

This year’s event was held in association with the Independent Porsche Enthusiasts’ Club who were well represented by their members and were joined by members of the 924 Owners Club and Porsche Club GB.

Porsche Bournemouth showcased a selection of their new models including the recently launched Macan. A number of trade stands were selling Porsche-related parts, accessories and cleaning products.

In the Display Marquee, the South Hants Model Auto Club put on a display of Porsche marque model cars.

Throughout the day, Beaulieu’s visitors had an opportunity to vote for their favourite Porsche vehicles in the People’s Choice Awards. The overall winner was Jon Devereux from Milford-On-Sea, Hampshire, in an historic 1952 1488 cc Porsche 356 Cabriolet in its original Radium Green colour.

Jon imported the vehicle from the USA in 2011 as a project, restoring it from a rolling shell to its current concours condition. He is a member of the 356 Registry, based in the USA and recently took part in the International Porsche 356 Meeting in Estoril, Portugal, joining over 200 356s from all over the world.

Jon was presented with his award by Rebecca Jackson, presenter of ITV4’s Car Buyer. Rebecca is also a Porsche Boxster racer and attended the event in her own race car.

Following the award presentation a selection of the most popular vehicles took part in a cavalcade around the parkland, showing off some of the finest examples of the marque.
