INTERNATIONAL auctioneers Coys broke three world records at their famous Spring Classics auction in London last week, which was part of a unique television event with Channel 4.

A 1972 Maserati Ghibli SS (pictured above) fetched £177,640, which is believed to be a world record price for this model.

The other two cars reaching exceptional prices were a 1981 Delorean DMC-12 and a 1950 Series 1 Land Rover 80”, both part of the new Channel 4 series “Cars” (working title) with star Philip Glenister and restorer Ant Anstead. Prices for these cars will be revealed later this summer when the show goes on air.

Other important cars that went under the hammer included former Beatles manager Brian Epstein’s 1964 Bentley S3, which sold for £31,000; a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 that sold for £360,000; and a 1926 Rolls Royce 20HP Barrel sided Tourer that sold for £103,720.
