VAUXHALL’S entry in the burgeoning compact SUV segment has the look of an overweight Corsa and comes loaded with the smart equipment that we’ve come to expect from every new model.
A big plus with the Mokka is that it can be bought with an on-demand all-wheel-drive system, as well as a more fuel-efficient two-wheel drive configuration. The line-up comprises three engines, all with start-stop: a 1.6-litre petrol, a 1.4-litre turbo petrol and a 1.7 CDTi diesel.
New features in the Mokka include a front camera system with functions such as a lane departure warning system, as well as the latest generation of the integrated bicycle carrier that slides out of the rear bumper and can carry three bikes.
Compact in dimensions but capable of carrying five adults in comfort, the Vauxhall Mokka is available to order with prices starting at £16,995, and will be in showrooms in November.
MM verdict: It will face tough competition from the excellent and well-established Skoda Yeti and Nissan Qashqai.
