THE latest morph of Fiat’s universally adored 500 is guaranteed to be one of the star attractions of next week’s Geneva Motor Show.
Called the 500L, the new version lifts the car up a notch or two in the weight divisions.
The ‘L’ stands for ‘large’ – all things are comparative – and it is described by its proud creators as combining the passenger space of an MPV, the driving feel of a small SUV and the efficiency of a supermini. How could it fail?
The car is going to be produced at the Fiat plant in Serbia and is scheduled to reach showrooms in Europe in the last quarter of 2012.
It will have five seats and an engine range comprising two petrol versions and a highly advanced turbodiesel.
MM verdict: Can large still be cute? Probably.
