Classic vans go under the hammer

THREE classic commercial vehicles feature in the Charterhouse auction of classic cars at The Royal Bath & West Showground, Shepton Mallet, on Sunday 12th February.

“Classic commercial vehicles are quite a rare sight on our roads today,” says Matthew Whitney, who looks after the  car side of the business for the Sherborne-based auction house.

“During their working life, they were useful workhorses and often used as skips on wheels. As with most vehicles, they were often subjected to periods of neglect, lack of maintenance or had owners who aspired to be racing drivers.”

The trio are all painted in various shades of green. There is a 1972 Minivan (estimate £2,500-£3,000), a 1968 Austin A35 van (£4,500-£5,000) and a 1969 Morris Minor van (£4,500-£5,000).

All three have current MoTs and the added benefits of being tax exempt. Now ready to be used by their new owners, they would be a useful addition to any classic car collection or could be sign-written with business details for advertising, marketing and having fun.
