A solid sterling silver scale model of a Model T Ford sold for £3,400 at a collectors’ sale held by auctioneers Charterhouse, of Sherborne.
Saleroom boss Richard Bromell said: “The Taunton family who owned the Model T previously ran Whites, the main Ford dealer in the town for years. The owner took advantage of the free home visit service we offer and she was pleased to hear it could make as much as £3,000.”
The model, weighing in at 4.5kg, was produced in 1978 and was one of 500 made by Garrards, the Crown jewellers.
Elsewhere in the sale, a run of Autosport magazines sold for £580, and a barn-stored 1961 Norton Dominator motorcycle made £2,600.
