2010 Car of the Week

Motor Mouth’s Car of the week: Renault Wind

A breath of fresh air? The laughably named Wind is Renault’s spanking new coupé-roadster and is likely to find plenty of customers, especially with prices starting at only £15,500.

The makers say it is aimed at the motorist looking for a car that is compact and distinctive but also practical enough for daily use. The two-seater Wind has three models – Dynamique, Dynamique S and a limited edition Collection – and a choice of 1.6 or 1.2-litre petrol engines.

It is based on the successful Twingo and one of its boasts is a unique electric folding roof that, because it comes as a single section rather than a fold-up, pivots open in just 12 seconds. Up or down, it doesn’t affect boot space.

MM verdict: A welcome breeze.
