It’s being billed as the most sporting road-going Porsche 911 to date and that is quite a claim.
The new GT3 RS is a racetrack rocket in all but name, with increased power from its flat-six 3.8-litre engine, and reduced weight thanks in part to the usual lead battery being swapped for a lithium-ion version.
The GT3 RS has an extra-large carbon-fibre rear wing, some very flash livery and motifs and plenty of other touches to suggest that it is not aimed at the Sunday afternoon countryside admirer.
It has a six-speed manual gearbox, produces the thrust of 450 horses, and will cost a touch north of £100k when it goes on sale in February.
MM verdict: A new thoroughbred in a competitive field.
