Peugeot’s first venture into the mid-sized MPV market arrives in showrooms this month and throws down a gauntlet to Citroen’s C4 Picasso. The 5008 is available in five- and seven-seat options, comes with a six-strong range of engines and costs from just under £17k.
Naturally it scores strongly on space and flexibility, with three separate seats in the second row and some smart fold-flat seating arrangements which will turn the whole thing into a rather swish mobile warehouse.
The very clever stuff includes a head-up display that beams information on to the windscreen, a facility usually found only in more rarefied segments of the market. There is also a radar-powered distance alert gadget and a multi-media system so middle-seat passengers can watch movies on screens embedded in the front head rests.
MM verdict: A lot of car for your money.
