You have to hand it to Ford: they may have turned out a turkey or two down the years and they may, of late, have produced financial results that would make the Greek economy look buoyant, but they usually get their cars spot-on.
Their workaday models are serial successes and since they began consistently blending quality, reliability and technology with their traditional marketing genius and flair for style, they seem unable to fail.
The next generation Focus, which made its debut in Detroit a while back, spearheads the Blue Oval’s new generation of so-called ‘global’ models and will sell in gigantic numbers as punters around the world demand economy, technology and panache. The new Focus, due here early in 2011, fits the template.
MM verdict: impossible to fault.
