The thing about Renaults – come to think of it, with all French cars – is that people tend either to love ’em or loathe ’em.
Personally I have always belonged very much in the second category, but I can appreciate their characteristic French-ness and some of their innovative ideas. Generally, though, they always seem to be trying too hard to get themselves noticed.
This newcomer, deliveries of which are due in the UK this month, offers an astonishing 21-model range, priced from £15,485 and has so many options and fripperies that it makes your head spin.
There are four trim levels, called Expression, Dynamique, TomTom and Privilège, but it’s not one of Renault’s prettiest offerings.
MM verdict: it must be better than it looks.
