Peugeot seem to unveil a new model every week, even if most turn out to be tweaks, special editions or fancy-paint versions of existing ones.
But the 3008 really is a new Peugeot concept altogether – a compact, roomy cross-over that is the firm’s first hybrid vehicle.
With a front-mounted 1.6 or 2.0-litre engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor tucked in alongside the rear suspension, the 3008 promises a huge decrease in emissions and outstanding fuel consumption.
And extraordinarily, the marketing people say its streamlined headlamps are ‘expressive’ and ‘reassuring’. So that’s nice.
MM verdict: another motoring niche colonised.
