Chevrolet are making quite a song and dance over the launch of their all-new ‘compact family car’ – aimed, one presumes, at compact families.
The makers describe it as an entirely global car, which will be sold on all continents and become one of the firm’s core models, so they’re obviously quite pleased with it.
The Cruze has four doors, a choice of three engines, and Chevrolet’s now-familiar two-tier grille but it remains to be seen how it will compete in a fierce European marketplace.
Chevy’s UK and Europe-wide sales have shown a steep upward curve these past two years and the Cruze is due to reach showrooms here next spring.
MM verdict: hard to pinpoint its USP.
