Never mind the turbo – superchargers are back in vogue on some models in Audi’s revamped A6 range.
They used them back in the 1930s in their former guise of Auto Union, and now Audi are harnessing supercharger power in their V6 petrol engines.
The new A6, as you’d expect, looks startlingly similar to the old one, although there is an awesome new range-topping ten-cylinder RS 6 to behold.
They’re promising better economy and, allied to Audi’s usual exemplary build quality and technology-rich working bits, this is yet another German winner.
MM verdict: the Audi success story goes on.
