Bugatti tops the fantasy charts

MORE men dream of driving a Bugatti Veyron with Cheryl Cole snuggled up beside them than any other motoring fantasy, according to the findings of a poll.

For the uninitiated, the Bugatti Veyron is the world’s fastest car, capable of 253mph, and costing so much money it makes your eyes water just to think about it.

Cheryl Cole, formerly Tweedy, is a singer, songwriter, dancer, fashion designer, author and television personality, it says here. Clearly a woman of many talents, who could probably knock out a short story or a hit number before the lights have turned to green.

Anyway, a combination of the Bug and Ms Cole, whose impressive CV also includes being a judge on ‘The X-Factor’ and the wife of a footballer called Ashley Cole, is apparently the ultimate dream of thousands of red-blooded men.

They were asked by the survey team to reveal their idea of their favourite supercar and their passenger of choice.

Of course, the results of any survey will depend on precisely who it is being surveyed. In this case, it was 13,000 visitors to the MSN Cars website and the exercise was carried out to promote the MPH Prestige and Performance Motor Show.

Had the pollsters targeted clients of Saga, for instance, Dame Judi Dench and a nicely buffed old Morgan might well have topped the list; Sun readers may have opted for Jordan and a soft-top Ferrari; other publications may have produced a strong following for Elton John and a pink Rolls-Royce.

In the poll that was actually carried out, Cheryl Cole emerged as the number one fantasy passenger, followed by several ladies I have never heard of and a couple that I wouldn’t want within 100 yards if I owned a Bugatti.

Megan Fox came second, then Jessica Alba, Jennifer Aniston, Lily Allen, Beyoncé Knowles, Scarlet Johanssen, Elisha Cuthbert, Adriana Lima and Gisele Bundchen. Most are names that rarely feature in conversation at MouthTowers.

Even the fantasy car table produces a mystery or two, and some that look like spelling mistakes. The Bugatti is closely followed by the Aston Martin One-77, then there’s a big gap in the traffic until we get to the others: Ferrari California, Pagani Zonda R, Alfa 8C Spider, Koenigsegg CCX, GTbyCitroen, Caparo T1, Spyker C8 and Arash AF-10.

Not so much as a mention, you’ll notice, for the likes of the Vauxhall Vectra or Rover Metro, while Ann Widdecombe is also strangely overlooked. My fantasy passenger would be Mrs Mouth sleeping silently. Any sort of car would do.
